Kayak Fishing Tournament Series

Tournament Format

Mission- Host a premier kayak fishing tournament trail with a Conventional and Fly Division on waters in Austin, Texas.

Our tournament format hosts two separate divisions:

Conventional Tackle Division Registration Guaranteed Payouts

  • Conventional Tackle Big Bass Pot: TBD @ check-in

Fly Tackle Division Registration Guaranteed Payouts

(Ties will be judged by the Angler’s largest fish, 2nd largest, and so on until a winner is found).

Conventional Tackle Division Participation Fees

  • Entry Fee: $40
  • Kayak Buy-In: $10 (3rd Lake Bastrop tournament is for a Jackson Cuda 12 w/rudder Valued @ $1399).
  • Big Bass Buy-In: $10
  • Raffle Tickets: $10 each

Fly Tackle Division Participation Fees

  • Entry Fee: $40

* During the Championship (4th Tournament Date):
All Tournament Entry Fees will increase to $50, buy-ins will stay the same.

Rules for Judging

  1. Competing Angler in either division must me in a “human powered” kayak, canoe, sup, or other floating device.
    1. No electric or gas motors allowed, no sails allowed.
    2. Propel/Mirage drive units are legal.
  2. Only Bass ((Largemouth, Smallmouth and Guadalupe/Spotted) will be used in determining anglers ranking in tournament.
    1. Legal minimum measurement for bass must be 14 inches for fish to be judged and placed on scorecard (as a standard we will round down to the nearest quarter inch).
    2. Anglers best 5 fish are judged over the minimum length of 14″ to determine 1st place-last place.
    3. Big Bass for each division will be judged and awarded to the investing participants with the longest measured bass.
    4. Judging a legal (14″+) bass will be omitted if not pictured with our judging symbol (given at check-in).
    5. Artificial lures only.  NO cut or live bait permitted.
  3. This is a roadrunner style tournament.
    1. For example… 3rd tournament date hosted on Lake Bastrop has a mandatory check-in at the North Shore Park LCRA, but after check-in the angler (you) can travel/put-in anywhere on Lake Bastrop waters.
    2. Off-Limits period is from noon the day before the tournament to the start of the tournament.
    3. Each of our check-in/weigh-in locations is a valid launch site though so feel free to do so.
    4. In order to place 1st, 2nd, 3rd, big bass; All participants must be present to win raffles but only needs to turn in scorecard before mandatory weigh-in to be included in places/rankings.

  4. Cheating is wrong!!
    1. If in the event a participant is caught cheating, he or she, will be disqualified and forfeit any prize/cash winnings and banned for life from our Capital City Kayak Fishing Tournament Series.
    2. We will also notify every possible tournament director around the country of the incident and the cheating participants.
    3. All participants with any affiliation to the Capital City Kayak Fishing Tournament Series may be subject to taking a polygraph test.
    4. If a participant is deemed cheating and is found guilty through a polygraph test, the participant will be required to pay for the test.
  5. Competing Angler must use our measuring device only (Hawg Trough).
    1. Hawg Troughs will be provided at morning check-in if angler does not have one and must be returned at weigh-in or angler will have to pay replacement fee of $16.00 (optional $16.00 to purchase).
    2. When measuring bass on hawg trough the mouth must be closed and and no pinched tail.
    3. If either the mouth is open or the tail pinched there will be a 1″ penalty.
    4. If any other method of measuring is done, the judged picture will be omitted from score card.

I understand there is a lot of debate on using Hawg Troughs and the “right way” to do this.  For Capital City Kayak Fishing Tournaments we are using this method of measuring and all other judged photos not using this method will be omitted.

How we will run Bad Weather on Tournament Day:

  •  In the case of inclement weather, and if deemed necessary by the Tournament Directors, a 2 hr delay will be instituted. If after 2 hrs the weather is deemed Safe, we will carry on with the tournament, maintaining the same Check-In time. If after 2 hrs the weather is still deemed unsafe, the Tournament Directors, may “Call/Cancel” the tournament. In the case where a tournament is “Called/Cancelled”, ALL Entry Fees will be Refunded, less a $2.00 PayPal fee per person, and the Guaranteed Winners Pot will be allocated toward increasing payouts for the following Series Stops (If last tournament stop, it will be rescheduled). The Raffles will close upon cancellation of the tournament and the Raffle Prizes will be awarded at the following tournament Weigh-In (Raffle Participants must be present to win).
